Back to School Vaccination Drives

Commissioner Rebeca Sosa is partnering with the Miami-Dade County Health Department to offer two “Back to School Vaccination Drives” for County residents.  Children from 2 months to 18 years of age are eligible to receive free immunizations, which will be administered at two locations:

Thursday, August 5, 2010

A.D. Barnes Park – Recreation Room by the Pool

3401 SW 72 Avenue

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Miami Springs Recreation Center

1401 Westward Drive

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Residents must be at each event no later than 1 p.m. to be processed and receive necessary vaccinations.

Parents and legal guardians must be present when vaccinations are administered. In addition, parents are advised to bring their child’s immunization records. Children entering Miami-Dade County Schools for the first time must have their School Entry Health Exam done before getting their vaccines.

“It’s important for children to have their necessary immunizations before they start the school year or day care to prevent any illnesses,” said Commissioner Sosa. “This event is open to all residents and will cost nothing to families in order to fully promote the health and well-being of our local children.”
